This photo was taken from the subway platform. It shows the progress of the demolition on March 17th 2010.

A welder using a torch is cutting a steel beam that is supporting the upperdeck section between home and third base. When the cutting is completed, 3 grapplers using cables will attempt to pull down this section of the upper deck.

As the grapplers move away, the pulling on the cables will cause the upper deck section to fall.

This photo shows 2 of the cables snapping as the grapplers pull away.

The cables are falling to the ground. The cables will have to be reconnected to the grapplers.

Workers attach the cable to the grappler so that the demolition can continue.

The grapplers are starting to pull down this part of the upper deck.

Going DOWN!

STILL GOING!

STILL GOING!

As the upper deck hits the ground it crushes the concrete!

BANG!

DUST FLYING!

Lasting only a few moments, the dust cloud blankets the site.

All that's left is the skeleton and concrete.

The Yankee NY Logo can be seen in this photo.

The steel skeleton of the original 1923 Yankee Stadium.

Club Seating anyone?

This looks like part of the ladies restroom.

The famous gate 2.

Rescue Company 3 watched the demolition.

This grappler is taking down part of the left field structure.

It's so sad. The Y in Yankee is gone as the old Yankee Stadium is being demolished. Photo taken from the Major Deegan.
