On August 3rd 2007, I decided to go to the 40th anniversary of the West Indian American Day Carnival and Parade. My favorite subjects are colorful ones. I have seen photos in the past from the parade. I love the spectacular colors of the costumes of the parade participants. I arrived early on Labor Day. I walked up Eastern Parkway and checked out the vendors on both sides of the parkway service roads. Venders were cooking Jerk Chicken on the Grill, trays of Rice and Peas and other Caribbean foods were being set up. The smells were very enticing. Other venders were selling DVD's, jewelry, and articles of Caribbean native attire. The parade kicked off at 11:00am. I was across the street from the Brooklyn Museum. The parade reached my location at about 12:20 pm. I decided to walk up Eastern Parkway and get closeup photos of the parade. There were thousands of spectators lining up on both sides of Eastern Parkway. The NYPD did a fabulous job of crowd control. Everyone was having a great time. The costumes, music and dancing were a sight to see. (You can checkout my YouTube video).
