The beautiful shore line at Fire Island. It's been 72 days since Hurricane Sandy visited the area. The damage is extensive. It still looks like Sandy just happened. Why has it taken so long for the government to act? FEMA is under funded, The flood insurance is taking it's time on payouts to homeowners who paid their premiums. 67 members of Congress voted "NO" on the 9 billion dollars to fund the flood insurance program. With all the foreign aid that is given out to nations all over the world, why can't congress help their own citizens? Charity starts at home! The following images show the destruction of many homes on Fire Island. Homes that appear to have no damage have severe water damage. The salt water destroyed electrical systems and has to be gutted and replaced in almost all the homes on the island. In the town of Ocean Beach store owners have to deal with the flooding that damaged their businesses. This is America, not some third world nation. Immediate help is needed. Will Congress pass the $50 billion aid package? Those in Congress who voted no or will vote no, should be voted out of Congress as being un-American. Photo taken on January 13, 2013.
